USTFCCCA All-Americans

NEW ORLEANS - Five University of New Mexico track and field athletes have been named All-Americans by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their performances at the 2012 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships this past weekend in Nampa, Idaho.

All athletes who earned a team point for their respective institutions earn First-Team selections, while those who place between nine and 16 are named Second-Team.  

Sophomore Kendall Spencer, the national champion in the long jump, was named First-Team All-American by the USTFCCCA. His New Mexico and Mountain West record jump of 26-feet, 3.5-inches earned ten team points for the Lobo men's team that finished 15th.

Junior Floyd Ross also earned First-Team honors for his eighth-place mark in the triple jump, as his 51-10.5 jump notched a team point.

Senior Ross Millington was named Second-Team for his 13th-place 8:08.73 time in the 3,000-meter run. This is Millington's second honor, as he was also named Second-Team in the 3000m in 2011.

For the women, senior Sarah Waldron earned a First-Team selection based off her 16:07.04 clocking in the women's 5000m that was good for eighth place.

Junior Josephine Moultrie was the last Lobo to garner an All-American honor, as she was named Second-Team for her 4:49.56 time in the women mile.

The five All-American selections for the Lobos mark the third straight year that New Mexico has picked up four All-American honors. In 2010, the Lobos registered five and in 2009 they tallied four.

These honors are also the first bunch in what could a good week for UNM accolades, as MW Indoor Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Year are announced Thursday.
