Outdoor Track: Pair Of Lobos Selected To Academic All-Distrcit Team
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- University of New Mexico junior Mark Johnson and senior Keren Sari-Bentzur were recently selected to the second team of the 2003 Verizon Academic All-District VI University Mens and Womens Track and Field team. Johnson, a native of Fontana, Wisc., is a three-time all-conference honoree with a 3.82 cumulative GPA in Spanish. A graduate student in Physical Education with a cumulative GPA of 4.16, Sari-Bentzur is a ten-time all-Mountain West Conference honoree.
Johnson placed fourth in the decathlon at the 2003 MWC Outdoor Championships with a team-high of 6,525 points. Johnson also was ranked among the teams top-five in the high jump and triple jump events.
Sari-Bentzur owned the teams top marks in the 100m hurdles (14:78), long jump(20-01.00),and triple jump(38-06.75). The Omer, Israel native also notched nine top-five finishes and led UNM with 5,170 points in the heptathlon at the 2003 MWC Outdoor Championships.
