NEW MEXICO:NCAA Indoor and Outdoor qualifier in the 5,000m and an all-region cross country runner in his first year of U.S. competition...one of the best distance runners in the country when healthy...became the third man in UNM history to run under 13:40 in the 5K last spring (13:39.85)...earned a pair of silver medals at the MWC Indoor Championships in the 5K and DMR...very personable and funny off the track, and has become one of national track website Flotrack.org's favorite interviews...just as sharp in the classroom with a 3.72 graduate GPA his first year at UNM...former member of the Great Britain Junior National Team who arrived in Albuquerque from Leeds Metropolitan College in the fall of 2008.2008-09: (outdoor) Was the first UNM long distance runner ever to qualify for both the NCAA Outdoor and Indoor meets in the same year...finished 26th (14:46.51) in the 5,000m as he and teammate Jacob Kirwa became the first Lobos since 1989 to run the event at the NCAA Outdoor Championships...entered the meet as the No. 7 seed...secured the bid with career best time of 13:39.85 at the Mt. SAC Relays (April 17) and a 9th place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships at Oklahoma...5K time led the team, ranked 2nd in the MWC, 12th nationally, and ranked him 3rd on the UNM all-time list...6th in the 5K at the MWC Championships...also ran a regional qualifying time of 3:46.09 to win his section in his lone 1,500m race at Stanford (May 2)...Academic All-MWC and MWC Scholar Athlete Award winner. (indoor) Capped his debut track season with an 11th place finish (14:10.35) - matching his seed - at the NCAA Championships...was the 2nd Lobo ever to qualify for the event indoors...earned an at-large bid to the national meet with a provisional qualifying and MWC best time of 13:49.57 on Feb. 14 at Washington...also hit the provisional standard with an altitude adjusted time of 8:03.75 (Jan. 31 in Albuquerque) that ranked 2nd on the team and 4th in the MWC...MWC runner-up in the 3K (altitude adjusted 8:11.50) and helped the Lobos win a silver medal in the closest DMR race in conference history, finishing 0.26 seconds behind BYU with an adjusted time of 10:02.27...2 wins in 5 individual races. (cross country) Scored in all 6 meets, running second on the team 3 times...earned all-region honors with a 23rd place finish (team's No. 4) at the NCAA Mountain Championships...9th at the MWC Championships (team's No. 2) to earn 2nd team all-MWC honors...season-best 6th place finish in his American debut in the Lobo Invitational.
