One of the nation's premier distance runners who will be a legitimate contender for the NCAA individual cross country title this fall in his final collegiate season...coming off a breakthrough track campaign that was capped by an All-America performance (7th) in the 10,000m at the 2007 NCAA Championship meet...recorded the fastest recorded 8K time in Lobo cross country history in 2006 before an illness derailed his season at the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships...first team all-Mountain West Conference cross country runner last fall and a 5-time indoor/outdoor track all-MWC honoree over the past two years, including four medals in `07...earned valuable national experience, competing in the 10K (17th) at the 2007 USA Championships in June...just as successful in the classroom...2007 Academic All-American (3rd team), a three-time Academic all-MWC honoree and MWC Scholar-Athlete Award winner...earned his degree in Mathematics in the summer of `07 and is taking graduate classes in the same field this fall...returned to UNM in 2005 after transferring to Arizona for 1 1/2 years...sat out the `05 track and cross country seasons due to NCAA transfer regulations...returned to competition during the `06 track seasons...originally signed with New Mexico out of high school and was one of the team's top cross country runners as a 17-year-old freshman in 2002...redshirted the `03 track seasons at UNM before moving on to Tucscon where he competed in cross country and track during the 2003-04 seasons.

2006-07: (outdoor) Capped a remarkable indoor/outdoor track campaign by finishing seventh in the 10,000m at the NCAA Championships to earn All-America honors in just his second career race at that distance...was the first contender to take charge of the pack, holding the lead for much of the early race...eventually finished 5 spots above his seed, clocking a time of 29:09.01...finished over three seconds ahead of MWC rival Josh Rohatinksy of BYU (8th), the reigning NCAA cross country champion, to earn his first victory over the Cougar All-American...became the third Lobo to earn All-America honors in the 10K...advanced to the NCAA Championships after recording the third-fastest time in MWC history (28:47.76) in his first career 10K race at the Mt. SAC Relays (9th overall/3rd collegian)...performance earned him MWC Men's T&F Athlete of the Week honors...was also eligible to compete in the 5,000m at the NCAA Championships after finishing third in the event (14:01.43) at the Midwest Regional meet (Des Moines, Iowa) in a race that featured 7 of the nation's top-25 ranked runners...came within 200m of the regional title before a late kick by Colorado's Brent Vaughn and Texas Tech's Kevin Chelimo...defeated NCAA 10K champion Shadrack Songok (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) at the regional meet...MWC runner-up in the 5K (14:13.16), behind Rohatinsky, and also earned all-MWC honors in the 1,500 (3rd - 3:50.94) to claim team high point honors...clocked a career-best 5,000m time of 13:50.85 (9th) on March 31 at Stanford...became the third Academic All-American (3rd team) in UNM history to go along with another Academic All-MWC and MWC Scholar-Athlete award.

(indoor) Tremendous campaign, highlighted by a gutsy peformance at the MWC Championship meet in Albuquerque...was the team's high point man, earning a pair of all-MWC medals as the runner-up in the 3,000m and 5,000m races...led late in both races before falling to Wyoming's Mark Korir (3K) and BYU's Josh Rohatinsky (5K)...missed 3 weeks leading up the MWC meet due to painful foot blisters...clocked a career-best times of 14:21.89 (MWC Championships) and 8:08.61 (Arkansas Last Chance) in the 5K and 3K, respectively...3K time was the best by a Lobo in over a deacade...finished no lower than 2nd in 5 races and won the 5K at the Lobo Invitational...also helped UNM record a season-best time of 10:06.12 in the DMR.

(cross country) Outstanding campaign in his first cross country season at UNM since 2002...led the team in the first three meets and notched three top-5 finishes...5th at the MWC Championships to join senior teammate Juan Ortega (4th) on the all-conference first team...NCAA Championship hopes faded when came down with the flu just days before the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships...ran with the top-20 much of the race before fading back to 33rd (31:57.7 - 2nd on the team) over the final 3,000 meters...opened the season red-hot, notching a pair of 3rd place finishes at the UNM Invite and at Stanford...clocked the fastest recorded 8K in UNM history at Stanford, finishing in 23:40...48th at the Pre-Nationals (24:24.5)...Academic All-MWC.

2005-06: (outdoor) Led the team and ranked third in the MWC in the 5,000m with a top time of 14:21.23 at the Cardinal Invitational at Stanford...placed seventh in the event at the MWC Championships...won the 3,000 at USC...was nearly 10 seconds faster than the 22-man field in the 5,000 at the Mt. SAC Relays...also led the Lobos in the 1,500 with a top time of 3:57.55 in the opener at Arizona...runner-up in the 1,500 and 3,000 in Tucson...Academic All-MWC honoree and a Scholar-Athlete Award winner.

(indoor) Was outstanding in his first year of track competition for the Lobos...UNM high-point man (13) at the MWC Championships, finishing second in the 5,000m and fourth in the 3,000...was the second Lobo to earn all-MWC honors in the 5K indoors...led the team in the 5,000 (14:28.70), 3,000 (8:17.20) and mile (4:15.72) during the winter...five top-5 finishes in his seven individual races...won the 3,000 at the Mark Shumate Open and was the runner-up in the event at the Modrall Sperling Invite.

Born on Oct. 28, 1984, in Albuquerque, N.M...age is 22...full name is Jeremy David Johnson...son of William and Pam Johnson...dad ran track and cross-country at Arizona and grandfather, Tom Addis, ran at Georgia...has two brothers, Rick (23) and Ben (16) - a senior at Albuquerque Academy...Ben is one of the top distance runners in the state, earning All-America honors (6th) at the 2006 Foot Locker National Cross Country Championships after capturing the class 4A state XC title as a junior.
