NEW MEXICO: Veteran long distance runner who is one of three seniors competing for UNM this fall. 2003: (indoor) Competed in a pair of 3,000m races...placed sixth at the Air Force Invitational and was 14th at NAU...did not compete outdoors. 2002:(cross country) Ran in three meets...top finish of 12th at UTEP...finished among the Lobos' top-seven twice...academic all-MWC honoree...(indoor) Competed in one 3,000m race indoors...did not compete outdoors. 2001:(cross country) Competed in two cross country meets, finishing 26th at the Lori Fitzgerald Invite. EASTERN WASHINGTON: Ran four cross country races and competed in middle distance events on the track for head coach Dan Hilton. HIGH SCHOOL: Three-year letterwinner in track and cross country at H.P. Baldwin High School in Wailuku, Hawai'i under head coach Fred Losano. PERSONAL: Leighton Masato Katsuda was born Oct. 29, 1981 in Wailuku, Hawai'i...son of Roy and Betty Katsuda...as two brothers, David (33) and Ian (25), and a sister, Tasha (31)...greatest inspiration is his father, Roy...major is Asian Studies. |
