Collins. NEW MEXICO: Promising freshman who enrolled at UNM in January of 2009...regional qualifier in the 1,500 on the track in his debut collegiate season, but was also an accomplished cross country runner during his prep career in England. 2009: (outdoor) Raced 6 times in the 1,500 with a career-best and NCAA regional qualifying time of 3:45.04 on April 17 at the Mt. SAC Relays...time was No. 2 on the team (behind All-American Lee Emanuel) and 6th in the MWC...was the first UNM freshman since 2005 to qualify for regionals in a men's distance event (No. 6 seed)...finished 15th at the Midwest Regional meet (3:56.98)...10th at the MWC Championships...Academic All-MWC ...(indoor)Redshirt season. 2010:(Cross Country) injured most of the year, but managed to come to make the team for Nationals...placed top 5 on the UNM team...2011:(Indoor)qualified for the Nationals in the 3,000m...2011:(Outdoor) great season all around...All Mountain West athlete along with qualifying to Nationals in a very competitive 5k...needed to run a personal best to qualify(13:36)... PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE: A 2008 graduate of Cheadle & Marple Sixth Form College in Stockport, England...Marple was the equivalent of an American high school or prep school...Clocked bests of 3:45.13 in the 1,500 and 1:53.3 in the 800 while in England...His 1,500 time was the 5th fastest by anyone under 17 in the UK...English Schools meet bronze medalist in the 1,500 and runner-up at the AAA U17 meet in 2006...Won the Brussels Lotto U20 cross country meet in `07.
