Lobo women looking for fourth consecutive Mountain West Cross country crown; men seek No. 3
NEW MEXICO:
Outstanding second-year runner who was one of the nation's top freshmen in her debut cross country season last year...redshirted the indoor/outdoor track seasons, but is ready to make a big impact once again this fall...last name is pronounced AE-deeng.2008-09: (indoor/outdoor) Redshirted both seasons. (cross country)Enjoyed one of the greatest freshman seasons in program history, scoring in all 6 races with 3 top-25 finishes...led the Lobos to their first conference title by finishing 2nd (21:30) at the MWC Championships - just 6 seconds behind the winner...earned MWC Freshman of the Year honors with the best conference finish ever by a UNM freshman...ran in the back of the pack for the first 1,000 meters before surging into the lead group en route to 1st team all-MWC honors...was the No. 2 freshman at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships, placing 11th overall (team's No. 2) with a season-best time of 22:55.9 to earn all-region honors...was the 17th freshman (140th overall, team's No. 3) to cross at the NCAA Championships with a time of 21:31.1...23rd in her official debut at Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational...returned to the XC course in Feb. of 2009 with a 10th place fininsh at the `09 USA Junior Championships, completing the course in 21:50 - just 13 seconds shy of a spot on the junior national team...Academic All-MWC and MWC Scholar Athlete. 2010: (indoor) raced 6 times in the 2010 indoor season... Ran a time of 17:00 in the UW Husky Classic in the 5,000...scored twice at the MW Championships, placing 8th in the 3,000 whilst placing 6th in the 5,000 the day before...2010: (Outdoor) debuted in her first 10,000 at the Stanford Invitational finishing with a time of 35.19..That time would qualify her to the West Regional....also ran Mt. Sac Relays in the 5,000 resulting in a personal best of 16.45.58...had another impressive Conference meet doubling in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters...placed 2nd in the 10k and followed it up with scoring for the Lobos in the 5k the very next day...2010-2011(XC and indoor) Injured... 2011:(Outdoor) injured for the entire season, but made an incredible comeback at the end of the season...ran her very first meet at the MW Championships in the 10,000m...she placed third in an extremely competitive field with a time of 36:24...that time sent her to the West Regional in Eugene, Oregon..although she struggled the majority of the year with injury, she managed to still have a very impressive year individually along with helping the Lobos...
HIGH SCHOOL:
A 2008 graduate of Jasper (Ind.) High School...named an Indiana Cross Country All-Star after finishing seventh at the state finals as a senior...2007 sectional champion and a two-time regional and semi-state cross country winner...earned class 3A all-state honors as a junior and senior, and was a four-time all-Big 8 Conference honoree for XC coach Kevin Schipp...helped the Wildcats advance to the state XC meet from 2004-06...set school records in the 3,200, 1,600 and 3,200 relay...swept sectional titles in the 1,600 and 3,200 as a senior...also won the 3,200 at the sectional meet as a junior...helped JHS win sectional team titles from 2006-08...3-time all-Big 8 on the track for coach Joan Schaeffer...also a four-year letterwinner on the swim team...graduated in the top-10 percent of her class.

Born in Jasper, Ind...full name is Lacey Korinne Oeding...daughter of Luke and Anna Oeding...has a younger brother, Jake...majoring in Nutrition/Dietetics and would like a career as a sports nutritionist.
