Lobo Cross Country Teams Earn Academic RecognitionThe University of New Mexico men's and women's cross country teams were recently honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their excellence in the classroom during the 2009 season. Both squads earned All-Academic Team honors, while seniors Rory Fraser and Chris Barnicle were two of just 58 men to earn individual All-Academic status.2/18/2010
Lobos Getting It Done In the ClassroomThe combined grade point average (G.P.A.) of the University of New Mexico's 21 athletics programs for the 2009 fall semester was 3.12 according to the UNM registrar's office. That's the second-highest fall semester G.P.A. since UNM began tracking grades in 1988, and ties the second-highest G.P.A. overall. The record of 3.14 was set in the fall of 2008 and the top spring semester of 3.12 occurred in 2009, meaning the top-three semesters have been achieved in the past three terms. The Lobos have now reached a G.P.A. of 3.00 or better for 14 of the last 15 semesters.2/11/2010
50 Lobos Awarded Academic All-MWC Honors For Fall 2009The Mountain West Conference honored 50 University of New Mexico student-athletes with the Fall 2009 Academic All-Mountain West Conference Team honor today. The Lobos recorded the second-most honorees among the nine MWC members and upped their numbers by three.2/10/2010

STEVENS: The Sky is The Limit For Franklin's LobosWith Lobo coach Joe Franklin, "Why not?" is never really a question. It's more of a statement, a plan, a mission, and if you know anything about this energetic Lobo track and cross country coach, you can't help but look at it as an inevitable. Franklin sees no reason why his University of New Mexico Lobos' cross country teams can't win a national championship. "The sky is the limit," said Franklin, whose Lobos just came back from a No. 4 (combined score) finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
