Waldron Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 Second Team

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - University of New Mexico track and field and cross country athlete Sarah Waldron was selected to the 2011-12 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 7 Women's Track & Field/Cross Country second team on Thursday.
Waldron, a pending graduate with a master's degree in sports administration, finished with a 3.97 GPA her two years at New Mexico.
The Puddleston, England, product is a two-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete award recipient (2010-11) and a two-time Lobo Scholar Athlete award winner (2011-12). She was also named All-Academic MW in cross country in 2010 and 2011.
Waldron also earned her stripes competitively as well. During her time at New Mexico, she secured multiple All-MW Honors in indoor track and field (2011-12), outdoor track and field (2011-12) and cross country (2010-11). She also holds the school and conference records in 5,000-meter run and 10,000-meter run with personal bests of 15:37.49 and 32:36.07, respectively.
Waldron has also competed at four national championships, including the 2012 Indoor NCAA Track and Field Championship and the 2010 and 2011 NCAA Cross Country Championships. She will compete at her first Outdoor NCAA Track and Field Championship next week in Des Moines, Iowa.
Waldron's selection is the first for the UNM track and cross country squads since 2007, when Jeremy Johnson was named third team Academic All-America by ESPN The Magazine.
Waldron and five other Lobos will compete June 6-9 at Drake University for the finals of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
