Mader will be the starting shortstop after playing third base last season...an outstanding all-around player with good speed, a strong arm and solid defensive skills...came to UNM from local Cibola High School where he was a teammate of Lobo catcher Jeff Grady.

2003 (Sophomore) - First-team All-Mountain West selection for third base...UNM's top hitter in Mountain West games with a .383 average...tied for third in the MWC in triples (five), tied for sixth in hits (86) and tied for 10th in total bases (133)...batted .357 with seven homers, 49 RBI and 55 runs...had a 19-game hitting streak, which tied for 10th longest in UNM history...10 stolen bases...finished a home run short of hitting for the cycle vs. N.M. Highlands (2/9), but still finished 4-for-6 with a career-high five RBI and two runs scored...career-high eight assists vs. Texas-Arlington (3/8)...hit a two-run triple and a two-run homer vs. BYU (3/13) and finished 3-for-6 with four RBI and three runs...three RBI vs. Texas A&M Corpus Christi (3/29)...eight hits in San Diego State series (4/11-13)...went to the plate a MWC and UNM record eight times vs. Air Force May 2...hit two, two-run singles on May 4 against Air Force and finished the game 3-for-6 with four RBI and three runs.

2002 (Freshman) - Honorable mention Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball...was the starter at third base as a true freshman...also played some shortstop, both to give Dusty Young a rest and to prepare him to play there after Young graduated...led the Lobos with a .388 batting average, which was also good for second in the Mountain West Conference...his 25 multi-hit games were third-highest on the team...only struck out 14 times in 209 at-bats...highest average of the season was .414 after his first 20 games...was at .401 with five games left in the season...at least one hit in 40 of 48 games...never hitless in consecutive games...top hitting streak was 12 games between 3/26 and 4/27...71 of his 81 hits were singles...season-high with four hits and three runs against Ohio State (3/10)...also four hits against San Diego State (5/12)...three RBI six times...error-free in the field the final 12 games of the year (35 chances)...3-7 with a stolen base against San Diego State and Utah in the Mountain West Tournament...hit .371 with 16 RBI and six stolen bases during the fall.

High School - Three-year letterwinner for coach Rex Sewell at Cibola HS...played in the Junior Olympics and the Area Code games in 2000, the summer before his senior year...named all-district and all-city from 1999-2001...led the city in stolen bases as a junior and a senior...hit .560 as a sophomore and .465 as a junior...struck out just nine times in three years...also a star football player...as a junior, was named first team all-state, all-city and all-district as a defensive back...3.5 GPA and was an All-American Academic Scholar candidate.
