Lobo Baseball Position Breakdown: OutfieldersThe University of New Mexico Lobo baseball team will see a small change in the outfield this season. Head coach Ray Birmingham will have a new right fielder a mainstay in center and two left fielders that could start on any given day. The Lobos only departure was All-Mountain West Conference right fielder Brian Cavazos-Galvez. The outfield will have depth and strong arms to make runners think twice about tagging up.2/4/2010

The characteristics of a captain come before the christening of one.When head coach Ray Birmingham and the Lobo baseball team chose their captains for the 2010 season, they elected a trio of players who have possessed the qualities of captainship throughout their playing careers. Lobo Baseball Announces Partnership with 101.7 The TeamThe University of New Mexico baseball team and Lobo Sports Properties are proud to announce 101.7 The TEAM (KQTM FM) as its radio partner for the 2010 season. For the first time in program history, Lobo baseball will be featured on FM radio. The TEAM will carry 26 games from Isotopes Park and on the road. The first broadcast will be Feb. 19-21 as the Lobos take on preseason No.1 Texas in Austin.1/25/2010
Lobo Position Breakdown: Infielders and CatchersThe University of New Mexico Lobo baseball team will see new gloves minding the infield and a steadfast veteran behind the plate in the 2010 season. Head coach Ray Birmingham has filled open positions at first, second and third base with enough young talent to ensure that the Lobo defense will not skip a beat. For the second season in a row the Lobos set a school record for fielding percentage with .976 and led the Mountain West Conference in the category for the first time since 2005. Returning behind the plate is 2010 All-American candidate junior Rafael Neda, who will anchor the Lobo defense. Each position features a worthy starter as well as depth to ensure there are no holes in the Lobo defense.1/20/2010
Lobo Baseball Welcomes Clint Stoy as Volunteer Assistant CoachThe University of New Mexico Lobo baseball team announced the addition of Clint Stoy as a volunteer assistant coach today. Stoy brings seven years of coaching experience and four years of collegiate baseball experience to New Mexico. Stoy will assist with hitting, outfield and coach first base. |
