A 2006 graduate of Montwood HS in El Paso, Texas • Named first team all-state, district 1-5A MVP and academic all-state as a senior by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches • Led Montwood to the regional finals of the state tournament as a senior • Two-time all-region, all-city and district MVP for head coach Tony Harper • Martinez played with current Lobo Daniel Faris on NM Force, a local AAU team, during the summer of 2005 • averaged 15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks, leading Montwood HS to the round of 16 in the Texas 5A playoffs as a junior.

Born March 5, 1988, in El Paso • Full name is Roman Eduardo Martinez • Son of Eddie and Pam • Father was born in Los Alamos, N.M., and attended high school there • Grandfather, Francisco Martinez, was all-league in basketball at New Mexico State • He also played for Mexico in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, leading his country to the bronze medal • Roman has two sisters (Monica and Nikki) and two brothers (Omar and Carlo) • Majoring in University Studies.
