Chris Walker is in his second season as an assistant coach at New Mexico. Walker spent the previous two years as the Southwest Grassroots Director for Adidas America in Houston, Texas. He was also the head coach of the T-Mac All-Stars, an amateur club team based out of Houston.

Walker's most recent collegiate coaching stop came at the University of Massachusetts where he was an assistant under former head coach Steve Lappas. He was on the Minutemen sidelines for three seasons from 2001-05. That included a one-year hiatus from collegiate coaching in 2004 when he was the President and CEO of Spearhead Sports LLC in his native Houston.

Prior to joining the Minutemen staff, Walker spent the 2000-01 season as an assistant coach for Lappas at Villanova. He was also the associate head coach at both Pepperdine (1999-00) and Vanderbilt (1996-99). Walker began his coaching career at Loyola Marymount in 1992, where he worked until moving to Vanderbilt.

A two-time All-Big Five selection, Walker started 96 games at point guard for the Wildcats and coach Rollie Massimino from 1988-1992. He led Villanova in assists for three straight seasons, recording 404 career assists. Walker led the Wildcats to four postseason bids (two NCAA, two NIT) during his collegiate career.

Born on Christmas Day 1969, Walker graduated from Villanova in 1992 with a B.A. degree in communications.
