Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 UNM at Southern Cal *** Los Angeles, Calif. * New Mexico improves to 7-2 with a 44-41 victory at Southern Cal...the Lobos have won 5 in a row * UNM is 4-1 away from Albuquerque this season, 2-0 in true road games and 2-1 neutral * The Lobos won their first game in 5 tries against USC in Los Angeles...they are now 1-4 at USC and the series is tied 5-5 overall * The Lobos are 3-0 against Pac-12 opponents this season with wins at Arizona State (76-71) and against Washington State (72-62) in the 76 Classic at Anaheim, Calif. * The Lobos scored their fewest points since a 73-43 loss at Utah on Feb. 23, 2004 * UNM scored its fewest points IN A WIN since Jan. 28, 1985, a 44-42 decision over Colorado State in The Pit * The 85 combined points are the fewest in a Lobo game since March 10, 1984, when UNM lost 44-38 (82) at UTEP in the championship game of the inaugural Western Athletic Conference Tournament * New Mexico won despite making 0 FGs over the final 14:16 of the game, a short runner by Tony Snell...UNM's last 11 points came at the FT line...the Lobos made their final 9 FTs and 11 of their last 12 * Over the final 15:19 of the contest, UNM was 1-10 from the floor with 11 turnovers * The Lobos won despite committing 24 turnovers, their most since 25 against Northern Arizona on Nov. 27, 2004 * New Mexico has won 53 straight games - 47-0 under Steve Alford - when allowing less than 60 points * UNM was 15-20 from the FT line compared to USC's 3-5...the past 3 games, the Lobos are 51-79 from the stripe, opponents just 8-14 * UNM shot a season-low 20% (3-15) from 3-point
