Greenwood One of Five Collegians Added to Australian Boomers for Olympic Tryouts
May 2, 2012
Hugh Greenwood, one of three freshman point guards to start for a top 25 team last season, has officially been added to the roster of 25 for the Australian Boomers. The Boomers will begin working out June 3 in preparations for the London Olympics. Greenwood is one of five U.S. Collegians on the roster, which will eventually be cut to 12 for the Olympic games. Along with Hugh is fellow Mountain Wester Anthony Drmic of Boise State, Washington State's Brock Motum, Saint Mary's Matthew Dellavedova, and Ryan Broekhoff of Valparasio. The remainder of the squad is made up of players from the NBA, the NBL (Australian), and the Euro Leagues. The Australian Boomers are coached by Brett Brown, who will oversee the tryout camps. "Our coaching staff is excited to extend invitations to this group of athletes who have earned the right to be considered for the Boomers London Olympic Games team," said Brown. The Boomers' 2012 preparations continue on 3 June, where the available members of the squad will gather in Perth for Camp 1. Australia is slotted into Group B with Brazil, China, Great Britian, and Spain, plus the winner of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament between Angola, Nigeria, Jordan, and Korea.
