Lobos to host UNLV on CBS on February 18
Aug. 10, 2011
Albuquerque, N.M. --- The University of New Mexico already has four dates in front of a national TV audience courtesy of the 76 Classic in Anaheim and the All-College Basketball Classic in Oklahoma City. Add one more…and this time in the renovated Pit. The Lobos will host the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 18 in a game that will be broadcast on CBS. The game will be a split national game, seen in at least half of the country, and also available on CBSsports.com. “We are very excited about the opportunity to have a national TV game in the Pit again,” said head coach Steve Alford. “The UNLV game in the middle of league play on CBS has the potential of a great game and atmosphere.” Last year the Lobos were swept by the Rebels in two of the tightest games of the year. UNM lost 63-62 at UNLV in the first match-up of the season, and then UNM lost in The Pit 77-74 in overtime. The meeting on February 18 is the second meeting between the two during the season, with the first taking place in Las Vegas on January 21 in a game on CBS Sports Network (formerly CBS College Sports). The Lobos have won at least 22 games in all four of Steve Alford’s seasons, and have advanced to one NCAA and three NITs. UNM has won a postseason game three years running. Season ticket renewals are continuing through Monday, August 15 at the Lobo Ticket Office at The Pit. Fans can also call (505) 925-LOBO or (800) 955-HOWL for more information, or visit unmtickets.com. The complete 2011-12 schedule will be released in the upcoming days.
