Around The Pit... with Holly and Christa
A fan's perspective...

Game: New Mexico vs. Southeast Missouri State University

It is the start of Steve Alford's second year, what do you think he has done for Lobo Basketball?
Christa: I think he has done a really great job of allowing students to come to the games for free. There a lot more opportunities for them to come by allowing free tickets. A lot of students don't want to pay for tickets for a school that they already attend, because they already pay. It is more incentive for them to come and cheer for their team.

We have a talented freshman class, how do you feel about their performance thus far?
Christa: They are doing a really great job. They are beating Southeast Missouri State and their defense is really great. They've showed a lot of talent and growth. That's what important with sports, that they grow and become better each year.

Did you like the new video board?
Christa: Yeah!
Holly: Yeah definitely, it's great!
Christa: I went to New Mexico State for two years and they have a video in the middle of the court and I think it's really great to be able to see replays and see what is going on. Especially for those who are in the higher sections where they can't always see what is going on.

How long have you been coming to watch Lobo Basketball games?
Holly: Two years.
Christa: Two years.

What is your favorite memory of The Pit?
Christa: The last game I came to here I remember they had a really good halftime. I think the halftime engages people to keep coming and adds a lot of the spirit; it adds entertainment.

What is your favorite aspect of Lobo Basketball?
Christa: I love the spirit of the crowd. I love that they engage in it and care a lot about Lobo Basketball. They bring signs and care a lot if we win or lose. They yell when we have a foul; they yell when we do badly and get everyone else engaged.
Holly: Everybody else feels like they're a part of the team.
Christa: Go Lobos!
