NEW MEXICO:Two-year letterman who gives the offense an outstanding change-of-pace running back to complement the powerful Rodney Ferguson...showed his ability as the featured back in a stunning, breakthrough performance in the 2007 New Mexico Bowl and followed with an outstanding spring...will continue to play a big role on offense in 2008...has an excellent burst darting through the hole and is the team's most nimble runner...tough to get a clean hit on in the open field and can pick up tough yards in close quarters with his agility...is an aggressive, effective pass blocker for his size and a solid receiver...also has experience returning kicks and punts...24 career games with 2 starts, but first game as the featured back was the `07 New Mexico Bowl...was an outstanding scout team performer his first two seasons before breaking into the gameday rotation in 2006...voted Offensive Scout Team Player of the Year by his teammates while redshirting the 2004 season...excellent strength in the weight room...485 squat, 345 bench.2007 (JUNIOR): Quietly played a key role in the offense, coming off the bench to spell Rodney Ferguson in all 12 regular season games before a breakthrough performance as the featured back in the Lobos' landmark New Mexico Bowl win...finished the year with 465 yards on 109 carries (4.3 avg.) with a team long of 37...also 8 catches for 126 yards (15.8 avg.) with a long of 32...averaged 45.5 scrimmage yards/game. `07 HIGHLIGHTS: vs. Nevada (New Mexico Bowl)...Dazzled the exclusive national television audience with a breakthrough performance in his first game as the featured running back, replacing suspended starter Rodney Ferguson...career-highs of 22 carries for 167 yards - the most by a Lobo in `07 and a program bowl record...also had 2 catches for 42 yards for a total of 209 scrimmage yards en route to ESPN Player of the Game recognition...had just 7 yards on 3 carries in the first quarter before errupting over the final three periods...career long run of 37 yards - the longest by a Lobo in `07 - on the first play of the second half...4 plays of 20+ yards (2 rushing, 2 receiving) on the day and had a 21-yard run wiped out by a holding penalty...also a key block to spring WR Roland Bruno's 52-yard gain on a screen pass and didn't allow any sacks...at Wyoming...Went right at the MWC's top rushing defense, picking up 30 of his 37 yards (12 carries) as the Lobos scured the victory in the 4th quarter...glided and spun his way through the middle of the Cowboy defense for a long gain of 15...also did a tremendous job of pass protection, picking up several blitzes 1-on-1...vs. BYU...Another solid rushing night, picking up 35 yards on 7 carries...career-long 18-yard burst set-up a 4th quarter FG and dragged defenders on a 4-yard run to the 1 to set-up the Lobos' first TD...vs. Sacramento State...Excellent effort off the bench, rushing for 45 yards on a career-high 14 carries and picking up 31 yards on his lone reception...long run of 10 yards...vs. New Mexico State...Just 11 rushing yards (5 carries), but picked up a career-long 32 yards on a 3rd-and-7 catch to set up a key FG that gave UNM the halftime lead...took the short pass just past midfield, left the first would-be tackler frozen with tremendous juke, and was finally dragged down at the NMSU 18 with less than 30 seconds left in the half...at UTEP...Breakthough game, tallying a season-high 54 rushing yards on 13 carries...also had an 8-yard catch. 2006 (SOPHOMORE): Emerged as a valuable contributor to the offense in his first season of gameday experience...finished with 123 yards on 30 carries (4.1 avg.) in 11 games off the bench...long run of 17 yards...also had 5 receptions for 48 yards (9.6 avg.) and a long of 18 coming out of the backfield...picked up several key first downs on screen passes or quick runs, often squeezing through a group of defenders to pick up extra yardage.
