Monmouth, N.J...son of Mark Biren, who played football (tight end) and baseball for the Lobos in the late 1970s/early `80s...Mark also spent two seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization....last name is pronounced BY-run.
2011 (JUNIOR): Utilized as a blocker in the offensive attack but also had two carries for four yards and two receptions for nine yards on the year. Also played on all UNM special teams, making four tackles. 2010 (SOPHOMORE): Played in 11 games mostly as a special teams player and reserve fullback...did not have any statistics during his second active season. 2009 (FRESHMAN): Played in 12 games as a back-up fullback and special teams...his first and only career reception was a 2-yard TD catch against New Mexico State. HIGH SCHOOL: A 2007 graduate of Arvada (Colo.) West High School...first team all-conference player after posting 109 tackles as a senior for coach Casey Coons...helped the Wildcats win the league title in 2006...second team all-conference player in basketball as well...also lettered in baseball...first team Academic All-State honoree.
