New Mexico vs. Colorado State

New Mexico hosted Colorado State in the season opener, won by the Rams 14-10.

NEW MEXICO: Fifth-year senior who could play an integral part in the 3-4 alignment on the defensive line...one of the better pass rushers returning up front because of his mobility...good size and is working to improve his strength in the weight room...redshirted the 2008 season.

2011 (JUNIOR): Participated in all 12 games, starting two...finished with 24 tackles, 17 solos...was third on the team with five tackles for loss...also had one sack and one quarterback hurry...had a career-high four tackles, including 0.5 TFL at San Diego State...his sack came in a three-tackle effort at Wyoming.

2010 (SOPHOMORE): Played in 10 games before getting hurt late in the year...had 23 tackles as a back-up defensive end position...had 1.0 TFL, including 0.5 TFF against New Mexico State and San Diego State.

2009 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Played in 6 games at defensive end and was in the rotation...finished the season with 8 tackles and 2 TFL...had his first career sack at Texas Tech...recorded a career-high 3 tackles at Wyoming.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2008 graduate of Vista Murrieta High School in Murrieta, Calif...three-year starter on the defensive line and an all-state defensive tackle as a senior...the defensive MVP in the Southwestern League and for Riverside County last fall...posted 94 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, 11 sacks and 10 hurries for head coach Coley Candaele...had 13 tackles two times...also saw time at fullback and tight end...the Broncos finished 11-1, falling to Corona Santiago HS in the state quarterfinals...also competed in the shot put.
