NEW MEXICO: Third-year walk-on defensive lineman who played in 10 games as a freshman in 2009...had 4 tackles in his first action as a Lobo and a fumble recovery against BYU...moved from defensive end to defensive tackle and emerged as a consistent playmaker...coaches love his work ethic and say he could emerge as a contributor on gameday...great explosiveness, one of the leaders for UNM defensive linemen with a 34.5-inch vertical jump, and is working to improve his strength in the weight room...raw talent who has only played organized football for four years...didn't start until his junior year of high school...first name is pronounced ar-EE-ah...full name is Ahraya Chaazaq, which means "lion of strength" in ancient Hebrew...teammates and coaches just call him A.C.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2008 graduate of Rio Rancho (N.M.) High School...first team all-metro and a first team all-state selection by Rivals.com and Scout.com after piling up 84 tackles and 9.5 sacks as a senior for head coach Mike Worley's Rams...helped RRHS go 14-10 in his two years on the team, including the school's first-ever playoff victory in 2007...58 tackles and 4 sacks as a junior...favorite memory was sacking and forcing fumbles twice againt former Artesia and current Oklahoma QB Landry Jones in the Bulldawg Bowl...was fourth overall out of more than 600 defensive linemen at the 2007 Phoenix Nike Combine...also the starting heavyweight and an all-district selection for the nationally ranked and 2007 & `08 class 5A state champion Rio Rancho wrestling team...first team all-academic honoree as well.
