New Mexico hosted Colorado State in the season opener, won by the Rams 14-10.

Highly-touted proven winner who is listed as an athlete but played quarterback while at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Olney, Md...probably be a safety at UNM...also had offers from Buffalo and Illinois...lost only four games during his football career, including eight consecutive undefeated seasons before entering high school...led the Falcons to back-to-back WCAC Championships as a junior and senior...took his team to the WCAC championship game where they defeated DeMatha 42-3 in 2010...was 11-for-20 passing in the championship game for 161 yards and three touchdowns...his unique athletic ability enabled him to turn a routine quarterback draw into a 61-yard touchdown jaunt...finished his senior season with 1,338 yards passing and 18 touchdowns...he also had 98 carries for 438 yards and 10 touchdowns...recorded six games with 100 yards passing or more...during two playoff games his senior year, he was 21-of-36 passing for 372 yards and six TDs...played for Bob Milloy at Good Counsel...as a junior, threw for 1,420 yards and 11 touchdowns to only three interceptions...had over 400 yards rushing and six TDs in his junior season...finished his career with over 4,500 passing yards, nearly 1,500 yards rushing, 46 passing touchdowns and rushed for 27 TDs...named 2010 second team all-state and all-Metro honorable mention by the Washington Post...also a 2010 All-Gazette and All-Sentinel selection...selected as the starting quarterback for the Crab Bowl and Chesapeake Bowl.
