NEW MEXICO: Returning linebacker who missed the last seven games of 2011 for personal reasons...redshirted the 2010 season and spent the year on the scout team...continues to build strength in the weight room and improve his speed...will compete for playing time at linebacker this fall.

PERSONAL: Born June 2, 1992, in Las Cruces, N.M...full name is Zachary Chance Daugherty...son of Shane and Lorraine Daugherty...dad works for NASA as a rocket engine tester while mom is a language pathologist at Oñate High School in Las Cruces...mom also played basketball at New Mexico State her freshman year...has an older brother, Lucas, and younger sister, Pilar...would like to major in Kinesiology at UNM.
