NEW MEXICO:
Returning letterman who entrenched himself as the Lobos' starting defensive end, opposite fellow senior Evroy Thompson, with an excellent spring season...began slowly, but really came on over the final weeks to secure the starting job...has improved his strength without sacrificing any loss of speed...365 bench, 330 incline, 323 power clean, 500 squat...coaches say they are expecting a big year from him as both a run stopper and pass rusher...transferred from Scottsdale Community College in January of 2004...displayed excellent athletic ability right away on the practice field, but took some time to adjust to the speed of game on Saturdays...JC teammate Anthony Carter also signed with the Lobos last year...has a redshirt year available...added 35 pounds since high school.
2004 (JUNIOR):
18 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1.5 tackles for loss, and 5 QB hurries in all 12 games, including 4 starts...came on at the end of the season, notching 8 tackles, 1.5 sacks and 3 QB hurries in his last 5 games...
vs. Wyoming...Another solid game, getting in on 2 stops, including a sack, and notching a QB hurry...
at BYU...Good effort, tallying 2 stops and a QB hurry in 24 snaps off the bench...slashed inside and stuffed a running game for no gain on his first tackle...
vs. San Diego State...Best performance since the season-opener, notching a pair of tackles, including a big 12-yard sack in the 4th quarter...also had a QB hurry in 13 active snaps...
vs. Washington State...Enjoyed a strong Lobo debut, finishing with 5 tackles...played virtually the entire game...recorded 4 tackles (3 solo) and a QB hurry in the 2nd half.
SCOTTSDALE CC:
A two-year starter at defensive end who was first team All-Western States League in 2003...also a second team preseason All-American...recorded 74 tackles and 10 sacks for the Artichokes...played for head coach Ken Giovando.
HIGH SCHOOL:
A 2002 graduate of Peoria (Ariz.) Centennial HS...three-year starter at defensive end for head coach Richard Taylor...first team all-region as a junior and senior...also a four-year starter at catcher for the baseball team, earning all-region honors his senior season
