NEW MEXICO: Walk-on kicker who joined the team in the spring of 2010 and worked his way to become the team's kickoff specialist in 2012 ... has, perhaps, the strongest legs on the team.
2012 (SENIOR): Played in all 13 games, kicking off 63 times for an average of 63.6 yards per kick -- the highest average in the Mountain West --with 28 touchbacks ... UNM's 39.9 net yards per kick ranked second in the MW. NEW MEXICO HIGHLANDS: Played two seasons at New Mexico Highlands...was the primary kickoff specialist and punter...had a 40.5-yard punting average in two seasons at Highlands...averaged 58.9 yards on 71 kickoffs.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2008 graduate of St. Pius X HS in Albuquerque...earned honors as first team all-district, all-state and all-metro as a punter, kicker and defensive end...also competed on the track team...high school coach was San Juan Mendoza.
PERSONAL: Born Dec. 12, 1989, in Albuquerque...full name is Gregory Simon Rivara...son of Gayle Armijo.
