NEW MEXICO:Three-year letterman who took over as the new starter at right tackle opposite as a senior...turned in an active spring practice season and training camp, showing improved tenacity and physical intensity in the trenches...an impressive athlete with excellent size who did a fine job in the Lobos' new spread offense...put up great numbers in the weight room and his 40 time of 5.33 in 2009 was easily the best of any UNM offensive lineman...final season as a Lobo was the most action he'd seen in his entire playing career...didn't start playing organized football until his sophomore year of high school and appeared in only 10 games (all in 2005) in junior college due to a pair of knee injuries...entering 2009 he had played 39 total snaps on offense in his two Division I seasons (4 official game appearances)...enrolled at UNM in July of 2007 after signing late on June 12...played one season at College of the Siskiyous in Northern California (Weed) and took a medical redshirt in 2006.2009 (SENIOR): Played in 11 games (10 starts), recording 50 knockdown blocks on the year...named the team's offensive player of the game in his first Division I start at Texas A&M, but missed the following week with a strained knee...returned to action in week 3, coming off the bench to split time with Maurice Mears (25 snaps), and returned to the starting lineup fulltime in week 4. `09 HIGHLIGHTS: vs. No. 22 BYU...Played one of his best games of the year, recording 7 knockdowns and doing a solid job of pass protection against one of the biggest front lines in the nation...had key blocks on the Lobos' first 2 TDs...clearing a path for Donovan Porterie's 3-yard option keeper and getting downfield to spring WR Daryl Jones' 26-yard score on a screen pass...gave Porterie time to throw for 277 yards and 2 TDs (44 attempts). at Texas Tech...Solid performance, recording 6 KD blocks in 98 snaps...gave QB Donovan Porterie enough time to throw for 316 yards on 56 pass attempts and helped clear the way for freshman A.J. Butler's 102 rushing yards. at Texas A&M...5 knockdown blocks in his first D-I start (56 snaps) before leaving in the 4th quarter with a strained knee...no sacks allowed. 2008 (JUNIOR): Officially appeared in 2 games, but only played offense in the fourth quarter of the Lobos' week 8 win over San Diego State...2 knockdowns, missed just one assignment, and had a 77% effort grade in his 22 snaps against the Aztecs...subbed in on the PAT/FG team vs. Wyoming. 2007 (SOPHOMORE): Appeared in two games at right tackle...played 14 snaps in his D-I debut vs. Sacramento State and had 3 plays late in the Lobos' New Mexico Bowl victory. COLLEGE OF THE SISKIYOUS: Started the first 10 games as a freshman in 2005 but tore a knee ligament and missed the rest of the season...injured the knee again in the second game of the 2006 season and took a medical redshirt...played for head coach Eric Young. HIGH SCHOOL: A 2005 graduate of South Salem (Ore.) High School...three-sport standout in football, basketball and track and field.
