23 Lobo Seniors Will Say Goodbye to Branch Field on Saturday
NEW MEXICO: Versatile fifth-year defensive lineman ... has played both end and tackle during his career ... a bit undersized, but has outstanding power in the weight room and good speed ... does a nice job of using his quickness and leverage to make plays ... was a staple on special teams in 2012.
2012 (SENIOR): Played in five games, primarily on special teams. Had a tackle in the season opener against Southern.
2011 (JUNIOR): Did not play, left the team midway through the season for personal reasons.
2010 (SOPHOMORE): Played in the final seven games and recorded two tackles, one against Wyoming and one against TCU...appeared in 49 plays.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2008 graduate of Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas...two-time first team District 16-5A defensive end who recorded a team-high 100 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, 17 quarterback hurries, 3 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries as a senior in 2007...team captain and the team's defensive MVP...was also a deep snapper...the Panthers finished 10-2 and advanced to the second round of the playoffs...a three-year starter for head coach David Smith...district 18-4A Defensive Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore.
PERSONAL: Born May 14, 1990, in Houston...full name is Mark Andrew Hunter...son of Gerhart and Mary...father's cousin, David Marshall, played defensive tackle at SMU during the "Pony Express" days in the early 1980s...has an older brother, Matt, who attended TCU...major is University Studies.
