NEW MEXICO:A three-year starter and a road-grading run blocker who has established himself as a strong, consistent force up front after sliding from left tackle to left guard during the spring of `07...an all-MWC candidate this fall and could have a future at the next level if he continues his breakthrough senior season...has started all 30 games at UNM...upped his max to 400 in the bench press during the spring...has also put up 328 in the power clean and 520 in the squat...Albuquerque native who originally signed with the Lobos in February of 2003 out of Manzano HS where he was a high school teammate of current Lobo RB Rodney Ferguson...began his career at Garden City (Kan.) Community College and earned junior college All-America honors in 2004 as a redshirt freshman...former Garden City CC teammate OJ Swift is a starting safety for the Lobos...a redshirt in 2003.2007 (SENIOR): Has been a tremendous physical force in his first 6 starts at left guard, helping to return the Lobo offensive line group, known as "The Hitmen," to its traditional place as one of the premier units in the MWC...midseason 1st team all-conference honoree (Phil Steele)...tied for 2nd on the team with 49.5 knockdowns to help UNM lead the Mountain West in scoring offense and rank 2nd in total offense...just 2 sacks allowed and 2 penalties all year...3 games with double-digit knockdowns and has posted overall performance grades of 80% or better in 4 straight games and 5 times this fall...blocking technique has been much improved over the past 3 games as well.
`07 Highlights: vs. BYU...Strong all-around performance against a big, powerful front 7...tallied 9 knockdowns and matched his season-high with an overall performance grade of 84% (96% assignment mark) in 77 snaps...didn't allow any sacks and had no penalties...showed great effort getting downfield to clear the way on screen passes. vs. Sacramento State...Finished with a season-high performance grade of 84%, including a season-best 74% technique mark, to help the offense pile up 499 yards and 58 points...also had 5 KD blocks in 62 snaps. at Arizona...Strong effort as The Hitmen's performance up front allowed the Lobos to put up 421 yards and 29 points on one of the Pac-10's most experienced and talented defenses...team-high 10 knockdown blocks and a performance grade of 80% (96% assignment mark). vs. New Mexico State...Part of another fine performance by The Hitmen who cleared the way 496 yards of total offense and 44 points...added 10.5 more KD blocks, did not allow any pressure on the QB and had no penalties. at UTEP...Excellent performance in his first start at left guard...racked up 14 knockdowns and posted an overall performance grade of 80% as he helped pave the way for the Lobos' 193 rushing yards...did not allow any sacks or hits on the QB and had no penalties. Preseason Honors...1st team all-MWC (CBS Sportsline.com)...2nd team all-MWC (Athlon, Phil Steele). 2006 (JUNIOR): Started all 13 games, playing every snap at left tackle...after a bit of a slow start, he made real strides on the field, helping to solidify a much-improved O-line...42 big effort plays, 20 cuts and 19 pins (10 games graded)...played his best football over the final two weeks of the regular season and had a solid performance in the New Mexico Bowl. `06 HIGHLIGHTS: New Mexico Bowl (vs. San Jose State)...Did a nice job in the season finale, paving the way for Rodney Ferguson's 3rd straight 100-yard game (102)...gave up an early sack, but provided solid pass protection the rest of the day...vs. San Diego State...Turned in his best game of the season as The Hitmen blew open some massive holes to clear the way for Rodney Ferguson's 210 yards rushing...Ferguson had 4 runs of 20+ yards, including a 49-yard TD on a 3rd-and-1 play, and wasn't touched until he reached the secondary on his long gains...credited for 11 big effort plays, the most by a Lobo lineman during the season, along with 3 pins in 52 snaps...did not allow a sack...at No. 23 BYU...Enjoyed one of his best games of the year as UNM controlled the line of scrimmage against the MWC champions...season-high 7 big effort plays, along with 3 cuts and a pin...helped the Lobos put up 418 yards of total offense - the most the Cougars allowed in their 6 home games...UNM also had 173 rushing yards, including 138 by Rodney Ferguson - the most BYU allowed an opposing RB all year...did not allow a sack...vs. TCU...Tallied 3 big effort plays, 3 pins and 2 cuts to help UNM pound out 102 rushing yards against the nation's 4th-ranked rushing defense...after a slow start, the offensive line also allowed just 1 sack during the Lobos' furious second half rally...at Colorado State...Turned in a strong, physical performance against a tough defensive unit...recorded a team-high 3 pins to go along with 2 cuts and 2 big effort plays...did not allow a sack and helped wear down the Rams' front 7, allowing TB Rodney Ferguson to pick up 31 of his 80 yards in the 4th quarter...vs. Utah...Continued his strong play of late, as The Hitmen turned in one of their most complete games of the year against a big, physical defensive front...did not allow a sack and helped TB Rodney Ferguson wear down the Utes, rushing for 59 yards in the 4th quarter...the protection he and his linemates provided allowed rookie QB Donovan Porterie to throw for 350 yards - the best by a Lobo in 3 years...at UNLV...Did a nice job up front, clearing the way for Martelius Epps' 4-yard TD run late in the 4th quarter and did not allow a sack in 68 snaps...vs. Wyoming...Quietly enjoyed one of his best games of the season against a stout defensive front...had a game-high 7 big effort plays and 3 pins...also made 2 cuts and did not allow a sack in all 67 plays...vs. UTEP...Solid effort against a veteran defense...helped the UNM running game control the tempo with 193 yards on 45 attempts, including a career-high 162 from TB Rodney Ferguson...credited with 4 perfect effort plays, along with 3 cuts...at New Mexico State...Played all 60 snaps and helped the Lobos' tailback trio of Rodney Ferguson, Mike Love and Paul Baker pick up 98 yards on 20 carries (4.9 avg.)...The Hitmen were also much improved in pass protection, allowing just one sack. 2005 (SOPHOMORE): Won the starting quick tackle job after a tight battle with veteran Patrick Hodges during fall camp and the first week of the season...became the first sophomore to start at tackle for the Lobos since Jason Lenzmeier in 2001...Lenzmeier started 7 games at guard as a freshman, was an honorable mention all-conference pick in his first year at tackle and a first team all-MWC player in his final two seasons...made strides and developed in each game he played...had his ups and downs as a first year starter, but played with more confidence and consistency over the second half of the season...was 3rd on the team with 86 knockdown blocks in 11 starts (7.8 avg.)...posted 49 KDs over the final 5 games of the regular season (9.8 avg.) and an overall grade of 83% or more in 5 of the last 6 games. `05 HIGHLIGHTS: at San Diego State...Strong performance against an active front 7...helped the Lobos churn out 286 rushing yards and 534 total, finishing with 11 knockdowns in 80 snaps...tied his career-high for the second straight week with an overall grade of 88% (career-highs 98% assignment, 78% technique) and did not allow a sack...left after suffering a stinger late in the game...at Wyoming...Turned in his best game of the season as The Hitmen dominated the line of scrimmage, clearing the way for UNM's 237 rushing yards on 66 attempts, the most since 1984...O-line allowed just one "coverage" sack as well...led the team with a season-high 18 knockdown blocks and had career-best grades of 98% assignment and 78% technique for a career-high overall grade of 88%...vs. BYU...Much improved performance, helping The Hitmen control the line of scrimmage...had 7 knockdown blocks and posted an overall grade of 85%...94% assignment grade and a 75% technique evalutation...he and the O-line cleared the way for the Lobos' 244 yards rushing and did not allow a sack against a high-pressure Cougar defense...vs. New Mexico State...Doubled his season total entering the night with 10 KDs in 72 plays...helped pave the way for the Lobos' 314 rushing yards while not allowing a sack...at Missouri...Part of a outstanding effort by The Hitmen, who paved the way for 200 yards rushing and did not allow a sack against an athletic Big 12 defensive front...89% assignment grade and 3 KD blocks. GARDEN CITY CC:First team all-Jayhawk Conference and named the top offensive lineman in the league in 2004 for head coach Bob Larson...a redshirt in 2003.HIGH SCHOOL:A 2003 graduate of Albuquerque Manzano...three-time first team all-state offensive tackle for the Monarchs...played for head coach and former Lobo Aaron Ocampo...finished third in state wrestling competition as a junior and senior...also set the school record in the shot put with a toss of 57-6.PERSONAL:Born Sept. 23, 1984, at Vandenberg AFB, Calif...age is 22...full name is Anthony Rashaad Kilby...son of Wilson and Ernestine Kilby...major is University Studies. |
