NEW MEXICO: Two-sport standout who is one of the top receivers at New Mexico...was on his way to big year in 2011 before a knee injury kept him out of three games near the end of the season...31 career games with 30 starts and he has hauled in 121 career passes for 1,280 yards and two TDs...led UNM in receiving in each of his first three seasons...in 2009, was the first freshman since Terance Mathis in 1985 to lead New Mexico in receiving and his numbers were the best by a Lobo freshman since Carl Winston in 1990...Mathis and Winston rank No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, on UNM's career receiving and receiving yards list...Kirk ranks 10th in receptions and 16th in yards on the school's all-time list...emerged in 2009 as one of the top freshman receivers in the Mountain West Conference...is an oustanding triple jumper for the Lobo track & field team...great agility and excellent technique...established himself as a reliable target in critical situations and has all-MWC potential as he continues to develop physically...developed during training camp in the summer of '09, establishing himself as one of the top pass catching threats on the team...redshirted in 2008...made an immediate impact in his collegiate track & field debut, flying a lifetime best 50-11.00 (15.52m) on his second attempt in the triple jump at New Mexico's Don Kirby Invitational (April 11, 2009)...his effort led the MWC (40th nationally), qualified him for the NCAA regional championships, and was the best by a Lobo since 1984...earned all-MWC honors with a third place finish at the 2009 MWC Outdoor Championships...ranked 3rd in the MWC in his first indoor season (2010) with a top triple jump mark of 50-02.00...also went 23 feet in the long jump...says he really wanted to be a hockey player as a youngster growing up outside of Chicago, but the price of equipment pushed him toward basketball, football and track.

2011 (JUNIOR): Started nine games but missed weeks 9-11 because of a knee injury...still the co-leader on the team with 47 receptions...second on the team in receiving yards with 376...established single-game career highs in catches (13) and yards (127) against Sam Houston State in week four...followed up with 11 catches for 90 yards in week five against New Mexico State...six catches for 42 yards, all in the first half, against Nevada during the sixth game...hurt his knee at home against Air Force in week eight and was limited to two catches the rest of the season.

2010 (SOPHOMORE): Served as the primary receiver for New Mexico in 2010...played in all 12 games and made 11 starts...led UNM in receiving for the second straight year...finished with a career-high 38 catches for 477 yards...he averaged 12.6 yards per catch and had two touchdowns...season-best 8 receptions at Oregon...5 catches for a career-best 119 yards against Texas Tech on Sept. 11 in University Stadium, including a season-long grab of 57 yards...had three catches over 50-yards...both touchdowns came on the road at Colorado State and Air Force.

2009 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Started all 10 games he played, emerging as the top freshman receiver in the MWC...led the team with 36 catches and 427 yards with a long of 59 and 2 TDs...Kirk led all MWC freshmen with averages of 42.7 yards (9th MWC) and 3.6 (10th MWC) catches per game...11.9 yards/catch...100-yard effort in week 4 vs. New Mexico State...8-yard reception across the middle on the opening play of the game in his debut at Texas A&M, finishing with 3 catches for 21 yards and 0 drops...missed the UNLV and San Diego State games (games 7 & 8) for a violation of team rules...19 grabs for 221 yards and a TD in the final 4 games.

`09 HIGHLIGHTS: vs. Colorado State...Game-high 6 catches for 58 yards...long of 26, dragging both feet in bounds on the sideline, to set up the Lobos' opening TD...had 2 catches to convert 3rd down plays...vs. No. 22 BYU...Five grabs for 48 yards with a long of 15...made several difficult catches while keeping his feet in bounds along the sideline...at No. 14 Utah...Returned to action for the first time in nearly a month and finished with a team-high 4 catches for 82 yards...pulled in a season-long 59-yard TD pass on a 3rd-and-17 play to tie the game at 7 late in the 1st quarter...vs. New Mexico State...Turned in the best game of his young career, finishing with 7 catches for 105 yards...it was the first 100-yard receiving game by a Lobo since Travis Brown's 120 in the 2007 New Mexico Bowl...long grab of 42 yards a deep ball down the middle on the opening play of the 2nd half...also had 2 catches for 33 yards as UNM drove toward the potential game-tying FG with 39 seconds to play.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2008 graduate of Rolling Meadows High School in Arlington Heights, Ill...all-state receiver who had 37 catches for 552 yards and 5 TDs as a senior for this Chicago-area school...Kirk scored 7 TDs on the season, including one rushing and one on a punt return...had 241 yards in kickoff and punt returns as a senior...the Mustangs went 9-2 last fall...a three-year starter for head coach Doug Millsaps...also played cornerback...a four-year letterman for the basketball team and an accomplished performer in track...all-state in the triple jump, and he finished 7th nationally at a Junior Olympics meet in 2007 with a leap of 48' 6 3/4".

PERSONAL: Born Nov. 20, 1989, in Hoffman Estates, Ill...full name is Tynell Limuel Kirk...son of Cheri Kirk...would like to be a chef after playing days are over...interest in cooking originates from a 7th-grade Home Economics class, and he took cooking classes in high school.
