NEW MEXICO: Former walk-on defensive lineman from Albuquerque's South Valley neighborhood who is one of the most improved players in the program over the past two years...powerful, tough, high-motor player who can man both nose tackle and defensive end positions...missed most of spring practice with a foot injury, but expected to split time at NT with starter Wesley Beck if healthy this fall...broke into the defensive rotation in 2006 and emerged as a key contributor off the bench and as a spot starter last fall...has appeared in 23 games with 5 starts...added 11 pounds over the past two years while developing into one of the strongest players on the team...earned the `07 team Beefmaster award for players weighing between 250-274 pounds and has made dramatic improvements in all four core lifts...became the first player in program history to power clean over 400 pounds with a 401-pound lift at the 2008 Night of Champions event...420 max in the bench, 360 incline and 550 squat...attended New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell for one semester before walking on at UNM during the spring of 2005...a scout team player in the fall of `05...he and his wife, Chantel, were married on June 21, 2008.

2007 (JUNIOR): Made a big impact with his strong, active play up front, recording a career-high 32 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, in 13 games (3 starts)...did a nice job of getting pressure on the QB as well, recording 9 hurries. `07 Highlights: vs. Nevada (New Mexico Bowl)...Recorded 4 tackles (3 solo) and tied a career-high with 2 QB hurries to help lead a sensational defensive effort against the nation's 7th-ranked offense...UNM held the Wolf Pack to 210 yards - 279 under its regular season average - including just 73 rushing - 153 under its average - on 30 attempts...at Utah...Matched his career-high with 4 tackles (2 solo) and had a solo TFL to help frustrate one of the league's top rushing offenses...Utah had just 32 yards on 20 2nd half rushing attempts (138 total)...vs. Colorado State...Assisted on 3 tackles, including one in the backfield and had a career-high 2 hurries, flushing QB Caleb Hanie out of the pocket...vs. Air Force...Got in on 3 tackles to help UNM hold the nation's No. 6 rushing offense 48 yards under its average, including just 73 yards on 24 2nd half attempts (3.0 avg.)...also notched a QB hurry...at Wyoming...Recorded a career-high 5 stops in his first start of the season...also had his first tackle for loss of the season to help shut down the Cowboy running game.
