NEW MEXICO: A fifth-year senior who has the potential to shine as one of the best tight ends in the country...one of five players to start every game for New Mexico in 2011...an Academic All-Mountain West honoree in the fall of 2011...a preseason candidate for the John Mackey Award (that goes to the nation's best tight end) in 2011...35 career games with 27 starts and he has 72 catches in three seasons at UNM...a two-time All-American who was a first-team All-Mountain West Conference season in 2010...tall, rangy tight end who should be a key factor in the Lobo offense in `12...has shown the ability to be a real receiving weapon and a dangerous red zone-target...has made good strides in his blocking at the line of scrimmage and creates match-up problems for smaller DBs as a downfield receiver...will only get better as he continues to grow into his frame and his strength improves...a late bloomer in high school who was just 6-2 and 185 pounds entering his junior season...older brother, Brooks, was a three-year starter (2008-10) at defensive end for the University of Arizona and was a second-round pick (42nd overall) of the Houston Texans in the 2011 NFL Draft.

2011 (JUNIOR): Started all 12 games, finishing third on the team in receptions with 22, even though defenses accounted for him far more than they did in 2010...had 241 receiving yards, also third best...best stretch came during a four-game span toward the end of the year when he caught 12 passes combined for 145 yards...season highs of four receptions against Air Force (week eight) and UNLV (week 10)...a season-high 58 receiving yards in the 21-14 victory over the Rebels...also a key member on special teams, producing seven tackles on the season.

2010 (SOPHOMORE): Played in 11 of 12 games and made seven starts at the tight end position...earned first team all-Mountain West Conference honors...named to the CollegeFootballNews.com first team all-MWC, honorable mention All-American and the all-Sophomore second team...hauled in 33 passes for 459 yards and a team-high five TDs, the best numbers by a Lobo tight end in 23 years, since John Duff (51-701-6) in 1987...Reed led UNM with 41.7 receiving yards a game...had his first 100-yard receiving game against Wyoming on Nov. 6 in University Stadium...had a career day against the Cowboys, finishing with a career-high seven catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns...he had a career-long grab of 40 yards against Wyoming...one of his TD catches was featured on ESPN's Plays of the Day and made Plays of the Month for November on ESPN...played his best football during conference play, with 26 catches, four TDs and a team-high 362 yards in eight games...was named the John Mackey National Tight End of the Week on Nov. 10 for his outstanding game against Wyoming.

2009 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Capped his fine debut season by earning third team Freshman All-America honors from CollegeFootballNews.com - the first Lobo TE to earn such recognition...started 8 times in his first 12 collegiate games...17 catches (212 yards, long of 29, TD) were the most by a Lobo tight end since 2006 (John Mulchrone - 20)...ranked second on the team with an average of 12.5 yards per catch...also an improving blocker who sprung Demond Dennis' 62-yard run against New Mexico State and cleared the way for Donovan Porterie's option keeper TD vs. BYU.

`09 HIGHLIGHTS: vs. No. 22 BYU...two catches for 28 yards with a long of 17...just missed his second TD of the year when he was unable to control the ball before stepping out of bounds...cleared the way for Donovan Porterie's TD run on the opening posession of the game...at San Diego State...two grabs for 21 yards...kept a Lobo TD drive alive with a sensational 12-yard grab on third down, wrestling the ball away from a defender as he had his facemask pulled back...vs. UNLV...Matched his season-high with four receptions for 34 yards...pulled in his first career TD with a sliding, fingertip grab from 13 yards out that cut the deficit to seven points early in the fourth quarter...at Texas Tech...Season-highs of four catches for 49 yards - all of which went for first downs...made a tough 21-yard catch in traffic across the middle to convert a third-and-2 play.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2008 graduate of Tucson Sabino High School...prep standout who led all Arizona high school tight ends with 41 receptions for 761 yards and seven TDs in 2007...consensus first team all-state pick as a senior...also had 36 tackles and two sacks from his defensive end position...the Sabercats were a perfect 10-0 in the regular season before losing to Prescott 34-28 in the first round of the 4A playoffs...played for head coach Jay Campos...was on the wrestling team in 2006 and '07, and competed in the shot put, discus, long jump and 200 meters for the track team...third in the state discus finals as a senior.
