`07 HIGHLIGHTS: vs. BYU...Turned in a dominant performance against one of the league's top offensive line units, helping the the Lobo defense hold the powerful Cougar offense 130 yards under its season average...made all 4 of his tackles in the backfield, including a pair of sacks, was credited with 3 QB hurries and also drew a holding penalty...finished with 3.0 TFL (2 solo) and 1.5 sacks (1 solo) officially...teamed with fellow DE Tyler Donaldson to sack QB Max Hall on the Cougars' first play from scrimmage...recovered a fumble to ignite the Lobos 3rd quarter comeback and later sacked and stripped Hall in the 4th quarter. at Arizona...Tremendous effort in the Lobos' landmark road win...tallied 4 tackles, broke up a screen pass and was relentless pressuring the passer, recording 4 QB hurries/hits. vs. New Mexico State...Turned in another inspired performance against the rival Aggies...made 4 of his 7 tackles in the backfield...credited for 3.5 TFLs and a 5-yard sack on a 3rd-and-6 play at midfield...also had 3 QB hurries in one of the best games of his career. 2006 (JUNIOR): Got off to a great start to the season and continued to frustrate opposing blockers each week, teaming with fellow junior Tyler Donaldson to form one of the top DE tandems in the MWC...tied for 6th in the league with 4.5 sacks (4 solo, 1 assist) and tied for 8th with 9.0 tackles for loss (7 solo, 4 assists)...also had a team-high 14 QB hurries, along with 38 tackles, an INT return for a TD (11 yards), 2 pass break-ups and a fumble recovery...started in all 11 games he played...suspended for two games (vs. Wyoming, vs. San Jose State) due to violations of team rules. `06 HIGHLIGHTS: vs. TCU...Helped lead a sensational defensive performance against one of the league's most balanced offenses...made 5 tackles, including one for loss, and had 2 more QB hurries to help the Lobos limit the Horned Frogs to a season-low 192 yards of total offense, nearly 200 under their season average...TCU had just 29 rushing yards (1.8 avg.) and 1 first down in the 2nd half...at Colorado State...Credited for just 2 tackles, but recorded both in the Ram backfield...ended the 3rd quarter by stuffing a reverse for a 9-yard loss...Quincy Black recorded an INT on the next play, leading to a Lobo TD...also combined for a 4-yard sack and had a pair of QB hurries...helped shut down the Rams' running game which finished with 37 yards on 26 carries (1.4 avg.)...at UNLV...Finished with 5 tackles, including 2 in the backfield, and had a QB hurry...also scrambled to recover a fumble on the Rebels' first play of overtime, preserving the Lobos' OT road win...vs. Missouri...Credited for just 3 stops, but was all over the field, helping the Lobos hold an explosive Tiger offense 130 yards under its season average...sparked the defensive effort with an 11-yard INT return for a TD in the 2nd quarter...dropped off in zone coverage and jumped in front of Chase Daniel's pass in the flat for an easy score...caused fits for the Mizzou offensive tackles, flushing Daniel from the pocket 4 times and stuffing a run for a 4-yard loss...at New Mexico State...Was nearly unstoppable, tying the Mountain West Conference record with 4 sacks in an impressive 62 snaps to earn MWC Defensive Player of the Week honors...final sack came in the final 2 minutes of the game when the Lobos were only using a 3-man pass rush...most sacks by a Lobo since John Bell also had 4 against Akron in 1988...finished with 6 tackles and also had a QB hurry. 2005 (SOPHOMORE): Was an integral part of the Lobo defense, rotating in at linebacker in the first two games before moving back to defensive end...sprained ankle really limited his effectiveness in October...suffered the injury on the first series of the BYU game (Oct. 8) and did not make the trip to Wyoming (Oct. 15)...finished the year with 24 tackles in 10 games off the bench...got in on 6 tackles in the backfield (4.5 TFL officially - 3 solo, 3 assisted), including 3.5 sacks...also had 8 quarterback hurries and a pass break-up...1 fumble recovery, 1 fumble forced and an INT as well. `05 HIGHLIGHTS: at Utah...Was the Lobos' defensive hero, stunning the Utes with a series of big plays...recovered a fumbled option pitch at the Utah 41 to set up a 2nd quarter TD...later sacked QB Brian Johnson for a 9-yard loss, forcing a fumble which LB Cody Kase recovered for a 2-yard TD...score proved to be the game-winner for the Lobos...sealed the UNM victory with an INT at the New Mexico 10 in the final minute of the game...dropped back in coverage on a zone blitz and stepped in front of a slant pass to end the Utes' potential game-winning drive...fumble recovery and INT were the first of his career...at Missouri...Six tackles and two QB hurries in 53 productive snaps at linebacker...vs. UNLV...Made 6 tackles, including one TFL, coming off the bench to play linebacker...notched a pass break-up and two hurries. 2004 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Did not play against Washington State, but really came into his own during the final 2 months of the regular season en route to earning second team Freshman All-America honors from College Football News...also a third team Freshman All-America selection by The Sporting News...is only the second rookie D-lineman in UNM history to be named freshman All-American, along with Buddy Billingsley in 1993...an integral member of the league's top-ranked defense and the nation's No. 17 rushing defense...was perhaps the top freshman defensive player in the MWC...started 4 of the final 5 regular season games, making his first career start for the injured Kyle Coulter at UNLV...notched 28 tackles, and finished in the top-10 in the MWC with 10.5 tackles for loss (10 solo, 1 assisted) and 6.5 sacks (6 solo, 1 assisted) in just 11 games...sacks all came against MWC foes (3rd in MWC only stats)...8.5 TFLs in his final 6 regular season games...also had 7 QB hurries, a pass break up and two forced fumbles. '04 HIGHLIGHTS: at BYU...Made himself at home in the BYU backfield, getting in on 3 sacks - the most by a Lobo in '04 - and forcing Cougar QB John Beck out of the pocket routinely...went right around the offensive tackle and had a textbook blindside sack of Beck late in the 2nd quarter to keep BYU out of the endzone...helped shut down Curtis Brown (14 yards) and the Cougar running game (58 yards)...at Colorado State...Another outstanding game, recording 5 tackles (4 solo), 3 TFLs, 2 sacks and forced fumble in 52 snaps...knocked the ball loose from QB Caleb Hanie twice on the opening play of the 2nd half before Fola Fashola finally recovered for UNM...play sparked the Lobos' second half comeback...later had a big hit on Hanie, briefly knocking him out of the game after hurryin his throw...helped a tenacious Lobo D limit the Rams to their lowest rushing total in 5 years (35 yards)...at UNLV...Made his first career start and finished with two tackles, including a TFL, in 36 active snaps...also batted a pass at the line of scrimmage and had a QB hurry.
