New Mexico vs. Colorado State

New Mexico hosted Colorado State in the season opener, won by the Rams 14-10.

NEW MEXICO: Talented athlete who earned playing time on defense and special teams as a true freshman in 2011...was involved in a car accident that cut his season short after six games; he was driving on a motorized scooter when a car changed into his lane and bumped him off his vehicle...has a chance to challenge for much more playing time in 2012 if he can grasp the new 3-4 defense.

2011 (TRUE FRESHMAN): Appeared in six games, finishing with seven tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss...led the team with two fumble recoveries on the season.

HIGH SCHOOL: Three-star talent with tremendous overall body structure and a very physical style of play...two-year starter for head coach Jim Creech...two-time all-district selection...a finalist for the Touchdown Club of Houston Defensive Player of the Year...finished with 50 tackles in 2010, plus three TFLs, four pass breakups, two interceptions and two forced fumbles.
