Game 8 notes At Air Force (10/20/12)
-New Mexico game captains for Saturday's game were quarterback B.R. Holbrook, defensive tackle Ugo Uzodinma and defensive end Jacori Greer.
-Sophomore cornerback Tim Foley carried out the New Mexico state flag as the team took the field.
-Kasey Carrier's 1-yard TD run in the first quarter was UNM's 24th this season - the most rushing TDs in a season for the Lobos since 2003. The Lobos scored two more to finish with 26.
-UNM rushed for more than 300 yards for the fifth straight game and sixth game this season. The five straight and six for the season are the most since the 1971 team had nine games - all consecutively - of more than 300 yards rushing.
-Air Force's 117 yards of total offense in the first half was the lowest UNM has allowed this season.
-Kasey Carrier's 68-yard run on the first offensive play of the game was a career-long. He had 59-yard run later in the quarter off a wildcat formation in which he took the snap for the first time this season.
-Carrier went over the 100-yard rushing mark for the third straight game and the fourth time in five games (He had 144 yards at the end of the first quarter). He's the first Lobo with three straight 100-yard rushing performances since Rodney Ferguson had three in a row in 2008.
-Carrier broke the school record for rushing yards in the game on a 7-yard carry with 6 minutes left in the third quarter. He broke the Mountain West record (285 yards set by Gartrell Johnson vs. Fresno State in the 2008 New Mexico Bowl and San Diego State's Larry Ned vs. Eastern Illinois in 2001) on a 37-yard TD run with 12:08 in the fourth quarter. He finished with 338 yards. His three rushing TDs give him 11 on the season, all in the last five games.
-QB Quinton McCown (third quarter) saw his first action since the week two vs. Texas.
-WR Lamaar Thomas' 19-yard run from the wildcat offense was a season-long.
-RB Chase Clayton had a career-long 21 yards rushing.
-SS Matt Raymer
had six tackles in the first quarter and finished with a career-high in tackles.
-DT Ugo Uzodinma's
tackle on AFA QB Connor Dietz for a 2-yard loss on the last play of the first quarter was his third TFL of the season and stopped the Falcons on third-and-1.
-OLB Joseph Harris
recorded a tackle for loss in the second quarter, giving him 4.5 TFLs on the season.
-CB Destry Berry
recorded his third interception of the season on a fake field-goal attempt in the second quarter.
-ILB Dallas Bollema's
fumble recovery in the third quarter was his second of the season.
-Ugo Uzodinma's five tackles were the most since he had nine vs. New Mexico State in 2010.
-CB Tim Foley
forced his first fumble and recorded his first fumble recovery of his career with a strip in the fourth quarter.
- K Justus Adams' 20-yard field goal with 12:30 left in the first quarter was his first successful field-goal attempt since the New Mexico State game.
-Tim Foley's 15-yard punt return to start the second quarter was his career long as well as a season-long.
-David Anaya's 32-yard kickoff return in the second quarter was a career long.
