New Mexico Postgame Notes - Game 7 vs. TCU
--Game captains for New Mexico: Senior running back James Wright, junior safety A.J. Butler and sophomore punter Ben Skaer.
--The Lobos allowed their opponents to score at least 14 points in the first quarter for the sixth consecutive game. Foes have outscored UNM 104-10 in the seven first quarters combined this season.
--TCU's 41 first-half points were the most the Lobos have allowed since Oregon scored 59 in the 2010 season opener. The Lobos also were shut out for the first time since the '10 opener at Oregon.
--WR Ty Kirk moved into 10th place on the Lobos' career receptions list, surpassing Martinez Williams (1996-99, 116 receptions). Kirk had four catches to give him 119 for his career. --RB Demarcus Rogers had a career-high 15 carries for UNM, rushing for a career-high 49 yards.
--Senior middle linebacker Carmen Messina surpassed Houston Ross (1969-71, 371 tackles) for seventh place on UNM's career tackles list. Messina had 12 tackles to give him 378 for his career.
--Jaymar Latchison and Messina sacked TCU QB Casey Pachall twice in a span of three plays early in the second quarter, which were UNM's first sacks since the third quarter of the New Mexico State game on Oct. 1. The Lobos had just five sacks on the season entering the game.
--Toby Ball and Tevin Newman made their first appearances on defense this season at LB.
--P Ben Skaer's 54-yard punt at the end of the first quarter gives him six punts of 50 yards or more this season and 18 for his career. Skaer had his second punt blocked in as many games in the third quarter.
--Donnie Duncan had 115 yards on five kickoff returns in his first action as the returner.
