Game 9 notes Vs. Fresno State (10/27/12)
-New Mexico game captains for Saturday's game were tight end Lucas Reed, offensive tackle Korian Chambers and linebacker Joe Stoner.
-The Lobos scored on their first possession for the sixth time in nine games (four TDs, two FGs). UNM scored on its first offensive possession once in 2011.
-UNM recorded two sacks to give the defense 16 on the season. The Lobos had 10 in all of 2011.
The Lobos gave up a season-long 89-yard TD pass.
-The offense rushed for more than 300 yards for the sixth straight game and seventh on the season.
-WR Jeric Magnant's 45-yard sweep in the first quarter was the longest run, and play, of his career.
-RB Kasey Carrier's 8-yard TD run with 12:05 left in the first quarter was his 12th rushing TD of the season, all coming in the last six games. His 30-yard TD run in the second quarter was his 13th rushing TD of the season, tying him for fourth all-time on UNM's single-season rushing TD list. He surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing yard mark in the second quarter, becoming the first Lobo to rush for more than 1,000 yards since Rodney Ferguson's 1,105 in 2008. His 136 yards rushing put his season total at 1,104 on the season.
-QB Cole Gautsche's 41-yard run in the first quarter was his fifth run of more than 40 yards this season.
-RB Crusoe Gongbay had a season-high in rushing yards with 72.
- Lamaar Thomas caught his first touchdown pass of the season, a 19-yard reception from Quinton McCown in the fourth quarter.
- The touchdown to Thomas was the first career TD pass for McCown.
-LB Joe Stoner returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.
- his first interception return for a TD. It was his second interception of the season and third of his career. He also scored his second career TD (he scored on a 35-yard fumble return vs. TCU in 2010).
-DT Dominic Twitty's first-quarter pass breakup was the first of his career.
-DE Jacori Greer's second-quarter sack was his team-leading fourth of the season. He also has a team-leading 6.5 tackles for loss. He finished with a season-high in tackles.
-LB Javarie Johnson's third-quarter sack in the third quarter gave him 3.5 sacks on the season.
-SS Matt Raymer had a career-high 10 tackles.
-FS Freddy Young had a season-high eight tackles.
-RB Crusoe Gongbay recorded his sixth tackle of the season in the second quarter, holding FS returner Milton Knox to a 7-yard kickoff return to the 8. Gongbay later successfully executed a 30-yard run on a fake punt for a first down. The run was his longest of his career.
-K Justus Adams went 1-for-2 on field-goal attempts. He hit a 26-yarder but was wide on a 39-yarder. He is 5-for-8 on FGs this season and 32-fo-32 on extra points.
-Ben Skaer's 60-yard punt in the third quarter was the second longest of his career.
