LAS VEGAS - The University of New Mexico was picked to finish fourth for the second straight year in the Mountain West Conference preseason media poll. The Lobos return 38 lettermen and 12 starters from the 2007 team, which finished tied for third in the MWC. BYU was predicted to capture its third consecutive title, followed by Utah, TCU, Wyoming, Air Force, San Diego State, Colorado State and UNLV.

New Mexico capped its 9-4 campaign with a 23-0 victory over Nevada in the 2007 New Mexico Bowl. It was the Lobos' first bowl win since 1961 and the biggest bowl shutout in college football in 11 years.

UNM opens training camp on Monday, Aug. 4 and will open the 2008 season against MWC rival TCU on Aug. 30 in the first of three consecutive nationally televised home games at University Stadium. Texas A&M (Sept. 6) and Arizona (Sept. 13) visit Albuquerque the following weeks to bolster the most attractive and challenging schedule in program history.
