Football Pregame Festivities Aim To Entice Entire Family
Aug. 25, 2012
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- Lobo Football game day is just a week away and the University of New Mexico wants to provide a festive experience the entire day for our fans.
The newest attraction this year is the Howl Zone, located in the northern section of the Stadium West parking lot. The Howl Zone includes three kids jumping houses, various other activities for families, an inflated balloon -- courtesy of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta -- and is home to the live broadcast of the Lobo Radio Network Budweiser Tailgate Show, fueled by Giant Gas and Convenient Stores.
Fans in the Howl Zone also can watch the "Lobo Prowl" as the team will go on a designated path through the Howl Zone on its way to the team locker room about two hours before kickoff.
The Howl Zone is free to the public and opens three hours before the game.
All parking lots open six hours prior to kickoff. The Lobo Ticket Office in the Pit opens three hours prior to kickoff and the northeast corner University Stadium ticket office opens four hours before game time. The northwest University Stadium ticket office opens 90 minutes before start time. There are a few options on game days to avoid lines and purchase football tickets.
We encourage fans to buy their tickets during the week at any Albuquerque Albertsons locations or the Lobo Ticket Office in the Pit, which is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Fans also can go online for tickets at unmtickets.com. We also encourage all Lobo fans to utilize the print at home option.
Early purchases will help avoid long lines prior to game time and allow everyone to enter the stadium in plenty of time to get to their seats before kickoff.
The gates to Branch Field at University Stadium also will open 90 minutes before the game.
The Lobo Den Store at the Pit also opens three hours before kickoff, providing a great opportunity for those fans looking to purchase their favorite Lobo wear on game day. The Lobo Den Store is located next to the Lobo Ticket Office in the Pit, making it easy to get tickets and Lobo gear all in the same place before the game. Once the gates open, fans also can purchase Lobo merchandise at two locations inside the stadium -- in the northeast and northwest corners. But on "Game Day Fridays," fans who want to display their school pride can visit the Lobo Den Store or the UNM Bookstore before each home game and receive a 25-percent discount on Lobo Wear and Spirit items.
Parking for Lobo home games will be $5 per car, except in the Stadium East lot, which will be $10 per car. Parking is free for cars with four or more people. Recreational vehicles can start park for $40 in the Overnight RV Lot (TLC Lot 2) on the northeast corner of The Pit at 5 p.m. on the night before each game.
