Jacobsen Earns NFLPA Collegiate Bowl Invite

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The NFL Players Association has announced that University of New Mexico senior long snapper Evan Jacobsen will participate in the 2013 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
Jacobsen, a three-time Academic All-Mountain West student athlete will be one of 100 NFL prospects who will travel to Carson, Calif., on Jan. 19, 2013 at The Home Depot Center on the campus of California State University - Dominguez Hills.
Jacobsen was the team's starting deep snapper during his entire four-year career at UNM and was vote the Lobos' Outstanding Special Teams Player in 2011, playing 106 snaps without a bad snap. The Laguna Nigel, Calif., native, also set the national high school record for snapping accuracy at San Clemente High School.
Jacobsen is the second Lobo invited to play in a postseason all-star game. Senior tight end Lucas Reed will play in the East-West Shrine Game, also on Jan. 19.
Pro football players and coaches will work with the participants, giving them first-hand insight on becoming an NFL player. Former coaches Herm Edwards and Dick Vermeil will serve as coaches for the game. Former Lobo Hank Baskett will serve as a player ambassador for the game, along with Terrell Davis, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Lorenzo Neal and Andre Reed.
