CAREER VARSITY NUMBERS 2005-06 (THIS SEASON): An experienced player who has played on three MWC championship teams and NCAA Championship qualifying teams...Has potential to be an All-American...Won Southwestern Amateur and Albuquerque City Championship...Tied with teammate Charlie Beljan for second in the stroke play portion of the U.S. Amateur and advanced to the round of 16 in the match play portion. 2004-05 (JUNIOR): Qualified for the 2004 U.S. Amateur...Played in 11 tournament this season...Tied career best round of 66 at the Arizona Collegiate to tie for seventh...Posted 12 rounds of par or lower and eight rounds of 70 or better...Carded 15th best 18-hole score with a 66 in the third round of the Arizona Intercollegiate...Finished in the top-20 three times with best finish a tie for fifth at the MWC Championships...Other top-20 was a tie for 20th at Hall of Fame Invitational...Ended season in a tie for 27th at the NCAA Championships. 2003-04 (SOPHOMORE): Choi saw action in 13 tournaments, 11 of them varsity...Eight top-20 finishes...Won medalist honors at the WNMU Fall Intercollegiate in JV action...Top varsity finish was T5th at the MWC Championships...Shot a career-low round of 66 in the first round of the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate to finish T12th...Other top-20 finishes were at the William H. Tucker (T17th), John Burns Intercollegiate (T12th), Hall of Fame Invitational (T19th), ASU Thunderbird (T20th), MWC Championships (T5th) and NCAA West Regional (T13th). 2002-03 (FRESHMAN): Had one of the most successful seasons for a true freshman in UNM history...His 73.39 stroke average ranks 20th all-time at UNM and is the lowest stroke average for a true freshman at New Mexico...Became the first Lobo true freshman to win a tournament when he shot a 211 at the Club Glove Intercollegiate in the fall of 2002...Finished 35th at the MWC Championships, 16th at the NCAA West Regional and he competed in the NCAA Championships. HIGH SCHOOL: Choi was Suburban League Champion in 1999, 2000 and 2002...Southern California Interscholastic Federation Sectional Champion...Played for coach Steve Orr at Gahr High School in Cerritos, California...Polo All-American and made it to the round of 16 at the U.S. Publinks Amateur in 2002.
