    The University of New Mexico men's golf team shot a first round 308 and second round 307, leaving it in 17th place at the end of the first day of the Morris Williams Intercollegiate at the University of Texas Golf Club. The Lobos ended the first day 47-over-par.

    The Lobos find themselves in a monster of a hole: 46 shots behind Oklahoma State which came in at 1-over 569 through 36 holes to lead going into the final 18.

    James Erkenbeck leads the Lobos at 5-over (147) and is in 15th place. Steve Saunders is tied for 28th at 8-over (150), Nick Geyer is tied for 73rd at 15-over (157), Jon Sauer is tied for 83rd at 19 over (161) and Tom Carlson sits in 93rd at 26-over (168).

    The current individual leader is USC's Tom Glissmeyer at 3-under (139).
