Tucson, Ariz. -- After 36 holes at the PING Intercollegiate in Arizona, the UNM men's golf team sits tied for 10th place with Long Beach State and UTEP in the 20-team field. The Lobos had a two-round total of 570, while team leader UCLA shot a 551 (-17) one stroke ahead of 2nd place Pepperdine (552) and two strokes in front of 3rd place Arizona (553).

Senior Michael Letzig led the UNM pack with two consecutive rounds of 70 at the par 71 course. He is tied for 14th place. Ian Medlock and Jay Reynolds also performed admirably, with Medlock shooting consecutive par rounds to end up tied for 26th place and Reynolds carding a 70 and a 73 to finish tied for 33rd place. Madalitso Muthiya is currently tied for 46th place (76-69147) while Derek Abel shot rounds of 83 and 78 to finish tied for 83rd place.

Jeff Briggs and David Schultz, playing as individuals, finished in 77th and 60th place, respectively.

A final round of 18 holes is scheduled for Tuesday.
