Men's Golf: Lobos In 9th Place At National Invitational Tourney
Tucson, Arizona -- At the National Invitational Tournament, the 18th-ranked University of New Mexico is at 9th place with an opening-round 300 (+12), 11 strokes off the pace of team leader Texas (289, +1).
The Lobos got mostly even play from its five competitors: Senior Michael Letzig shot a 73 (+1), while Jay Reynolds shot a first-round 74 (+2) in his first action since the first week of February. The two are tied for 11th place and tied for 18th place, respectively. Just one stroke behind Reynolds comes Madalitso Muthiya, who is tied for 28th (75, +3) and further back are Derek Abel (78, +6), tied for 53rd and Jay Choi (79, +7), who finished the day tied for 61st place in the 133-player field.
