UPDATE: Lobo Men Still Hold Lead At MWC Championship
Complete Release in PDF Format Sunriver, Oregon -- After day two of the Mountain West Conference Men's Golf Championships, the University of New Mexico retained its lead with one day of play left. Though the Lobos shot a second-round 288, 12 strokes higher than Thursday's team score, they still lead the pack with a two-day total of 564 (-12). They lead BYU by two strokes (566, -10) and third-place San Diego State by ten (574, -12). With a team score of 564 through 36 holes, New Mexico broke the old record of 566 set by UNLV in 2000. Individually for the Lobos, Madalitso Muthiya and Michael Letzig each shot even par 72s to stay in the top-10. Muthiya is tied for 5th place (68-72140, -4) and Letzig is knotted at 7th (69-72141, -3). Ian Medlock rebounded from a 5-over par 77 in day one of competition to pull into a tie for 23rd place. The other two Lobo competitors shot over par Friday (Jay Reynolds-73, Jay Choi-77) but are still tied for 12th and 15th place, respectively.
