Letzig Holds a Two-Stroke Lead Going Into Final Round of West Regionals
Auburn, Wash. - University of New Mexico senior Michael Letzig has a two-stroke lead going into the final round of the NCAA West Regionals at Washington National Golf Club in Auburn, Wash. He shot a four-under-par 68 in today's second round to move to seven-under par for the tournament. Arizona's Chris Nallen is in second place at five-under-par with three golfers tied for third at two-under.
As a team, the Lobos fell to third place with a two round total of seven-over-par. UCLA leads the team competition at five-under, 12 strokes ahead of the Lobos. Arizona is in second place at four-over-par. The top-10 teams advance to the NCAA Championships. Freshman Jay Choi shot a one-over 73 in the second round while junior Ian Medlock and sophomore Madalitso Muthiya finished with 74's. Sophomore Jay Reynolds rounded out the Lobo scoring with a five-over 77.
