ALBUQUERQUE - The University of New Mexico men's golf team shot 7-under par (569) and leads by one stroke over UNLV (570, -6) after the first two rounds of the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate. Arizona sits in third at 1-under par (575), six strokes back. The final round concludes Saturday, with a shotgun start beginning at 7:30 a.m.

UNM senior Michael Letzig got off to a hot start, pacing all players with a 7-under par (69-68,137) after two rounds. Letzig has the individual lead by one stroke over UNLV's Ryan Moore, who shot a -6 (69-69, 138) and Arizona's Ricky Barnes, who shot 4-under par (71-69, 140) for the afternoon.

"I think we are in a good position and played well today," head coach Glen Millican said. "I don't think we finished well, but we are in the lead and in the running to win this thing, and that is where you want to be going into the final round."

In a small surprise, New Mexico's David Schulz is currently in fourth place, shooting 4-under par (71-70, 141) while playing for the UNM JV team. Sophomore Madalitso Muthiya is in the top-10 after two rounds as well, shooting a 1-under (70-73, 143) to tie five other golfers in eighth place.
