Men's Soccer vs. Towson -- Aug. 26, 2011

Men's soccer defeated Towson, 2-0. Giovanni Rollie and Lawrence Robledo each netted a goal in the Lobo victory.

GENERAL INFORMATION/CAREER...Is tactically very knowledgeable and has tremendous natural qualities...Is expected to be a leader in the program.

2011 - SOPHOMORE SEASON... Led the team in minutes played with 2030, nearly every minute of every contest... Started all 22 games... Key cog in the Lobos back line at the center back position... Named Defensive MVP of the Lobo Invitational and the UA Tournament... scored five goals on the season, four of them game-tying goals against Cal State Northridge (Sept. 11), Akron (Sept. 16), UNLV (Oct. 1) and Seattle (Oct. 21) and one game-winner against San Jose State in the semi-final round of the MPSF Tournament... Named a second-team All-American by the NSCAA and third-team All-American by College Soccer News... Named first-team All-Far West Region... Named first-team All-Conference... Labeled a team linchpin by College Soccer News, and was named to its National Team of the Week for week five... Named MPSF Player of the Week following week fie of the season... Named to Top Drawer Soccer's National team of the Week in week 12... Named first-team scholar all-region.

2010 - RS-FRESHMAN SEASON... Made 19 starts in 20 total appearances for the Lobos in his debut season. A key cog in the backfield, Venter logged 1783 minutes of playing time and also contributed one assist to the game-winner over Buffalo on September 17. Venter was also named to the All-Tournament Team for the Lobo Classic.
