Men's Soccer Adds Two More to 2009 Roster

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - University of New Mexico head men's soccer coach Jeremy Fishbein has announced the signing of two players to the 2009 Lobo men's soccer roster. Inking National Letters of Intent to play Lobo soccer are Johan Bergstrom from Hofors, Sweden and Brendon Boucard from St. Ann's, Trinidad. The two international players bring the 2009 recruiting class total to nine.
"We are adding maturity to the team. Both Johan and Brendon will be 21 years old when they get here," said Fishbein. "They bring a different flair to the team in terms of guys who have grown up in soccer cultures. They both have played against men and were very successful at this level. Johan and Brendon are very excited to be here at New Mexico. They value the educational opportunities, the cultural experience and the high level of soccer. These two young men are going to be a great additions to our program."
Johan Bergstrom Hofors, Sweden Defender 5-9 / 160 Borgarskolans Gymnasium
Played as a youth for the Swedish Premier League Club, Gefle IF...played the last two years for Sandvikens IF...helped lead his club team to four district championships...attended Borgarskolans Gymnasium in 2007 with a 3.34 GPA...attended the Social Science Programme.

Johan grew up playing as a youth in the professional system in Sweden. He has had top class coaching. He's another young man that really values his education and has decided to combine his soccer aspirations with his academic aspirations.
Brendon Boucaud St. Anns, Trinidad Midfielder 5-10 / 165 St. Anthonys College
Attended St. Anthonys College and was named team captain in 2006 and 2007...named Most Valuable Player in 2007...helped lead the team to a National Intercol Championships as well as the North Zone League Championship...selected to the Secondary Schools All-Star team in 2007...received the Paul Borely award in 2007 for the student who best displays the overall character of a St. Anthonys College student...was a member of the Trinidad and Tobago National U-20 team in 2006-07 and the U-17 team in 2004...Played club soccer for the St. Anns Ranger Soccer Club and Clico San Han Jabloteh Soccer club.

Brendon is a young man who is a winner and a leader. We are excited to have him. He has played on the international stage while representing his country at the U-17 and U-20 level. Everyone that talks about Brendon has said that he is a natural leader. He exemplifies everything we are looking for in a Lobo soccer player.
