EXCELLENT GOALKEEPING: Sophomore Andrew Weber collected his first shutout of the season and the sixth of his career. He currently is tied for seventh on UNM’s all-time shutout list. Dating back to last season, Weber has allowed just three goals in six his last six games. 20 AND COUNTING: This will be the 20th year of varsity competition for the UNM men’s soccer program. The Lobos have recorded an all-time mark of 190-153-22 (.551). UNFAMILIAR FOES: The Lobos begin the 2002 season with four road games against teams they have never faced before. UNM defeated Northern Illinois (2-1 on 8/30) and Marshall (3-0 on 9/1) to open the season. Next, the Lobos travel to Denver, Colo. to face Georgia Southern (9/6 1:30 p.m. (M.D.T.)) and Illinois-Chicago (9/8 11:00 a.m. (M.D.T.)). TOP-RATED RECRUITING: UNM’s incoming class of Freshman is ranked the 29th best in the Nation by CollegeSoccerNews.com. Freshman Brandon Moss was also listed in CollegeSoccerNews.com’s list of Freshman to watch in 2002. So far, the freshmen have accounted for four of UNM’s five goals, and two of the four assists scored in 2002.
