Ejdemyr Named MPSF Player of the Week
Oct. 13, 2008
University of New Mexico junior Simon Ejdemyr was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation co-Player of the Week today. It is his second career honor and the second time this season a Lobo has won the award. Ejdemyr, a 6-5 defender from Boras, Sweden, led the Lobos to a 1-0 shutout over San Jose State Friday, Oct. 10. He constantly stepped forward to break up the Spartan attack on the backline. On Sunday against Sacramento State, he got involved in both of the Lobos' goals in a 2-1 win. He dished out his first career assist in the fifth-minute, followed by a penalty-kick goal two minutes later. The Lobos did not allow a goal over the weekend while Ejdemyr was on the field. The Lobos travel to UNLV where they will face the Rebels and the other MPSF Player of the Week in senior Lamar Neagle. Neagle leads the MPSF in scoring with 14 points and seven goals. The match with the Rebels is set for Friday, Oct. 17, at 8:30 p.m. (M.D.T.) and can be followed on GameTracker on GoLobos.com.
